This past week has been a whirlwind. I had a liver biopsy and have been diagnosed with Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. So once again I need to change the way I eat. I happened to go to my Endocrinologist the day after I got the news. I was thinking I need to eat low fat. She explained to me that the fatty liver is caused from my diabetes! The higher my blood sugars the more my liver will store the high sugars as fat.
I have a number of issues to deal with that also contribute to my liver issues. One big one is that I have been on NSAIDS for 11 years to help with my Psoriatic Arthritis. NSAIDS are hard on your liver. The other meds I take for my PA is also hard on my liver. My GI guy told me I have to lose weight and exercise. My Endo gal told me I need to get my blood sugars on the low normal side. Also she told me i need to lose weight and exercise.
So, Bottom line...I need to exercise, lose weight and keep my blood sugars in check. My plan is to educate myself on eating low carb, rejoin the YMCA exercise, weight train, Arthritis Aqua Aerobics, and basically change the way I live my life.
I am cooking for me and the rest of my family can add what they want to the meals. I am sticking to low carb which scares me a little bit since I am on insulin. I need to get a medical alert bracelet. Does any one know where I can get one? I am nervous of having lows. Well, wish me luck. I'm know I'll be able to do this. All things are possible with God and I am asking Him for help every step of the way.
