The Progress Dress

Sunday, July 08, 2012

One thing that I've always found difficult during my attempts to get in shape is a way to measure my progress. Yes, I see the numbers changing on the scale. Yes, I see the numbers changing on the tape measure. However, when I look in the mirror, it's very difficult for me to see the type of progress that I've made.

During my internet browsing, I came across this website blackgirlsguidetoweightl
(do not let the name fool you, the creator of this site has posted a multitude of resourses that can benefit anyone), and one of the blogs posted on the site mentioned having a progress dress blackgirlsguidetoweightl

A progress dress is a dress that you may have in your closet, or one that you may purchase that doesn't fit you quite the way you would like it to. Take a picture of yourself in this periodically to see how far you've come. I realized I already had one of these dresses in my closet, so I took a picture of myself in it on July 5th.

I'll post pictures next month so that we can all see my progress.

I JUST got one in red. I was at a consignment store. Found a beautiful red dress for $25-brand never worn and the price was $150 on the tag. Nope it odes not fit but I could see it was possible AND not only that but getting to my other goals of toning would help too. It will look better if I am in shape as well as thin.
Good luck with yours-I might get the nerve up to take a photo too-your dress is very elegant!

That's an excellent idea. I have several of these outfits in my closet! emoticon
