This morning I got a 24-mile ride in before it got too hot, and then it hasn't really gotten hot today. The only thing that could make the weather better would be if we could get some rain!!! It hasn't rained for weeks, and farmers are panicking.
Last night I had pizza and ice cream cake for my son's birthday, but I planned ahead for it and had a small lunch and an extra long bike ride in the morning. A friend and I went 38 miles together, and it was a beautiful ride in spite of the heat. We took our time and we brought snacks and water, and had a great morning. :)
So far this month, I have about 160 miles on my bike. It's pretty exciting! I'm definitely on track to make my goal of 500 miles/month for the rest of the summer. While I was riding this morning, I marveled at how much I have changed in the past few years. When I first started biking, I had an old hand-me-down commuter bike that I would ride 3 miles to the pool, swim with the seniors, and then ride 3 miles home, and that was my workout for the day. I still love riding and swimming, but now I can go so much farther.
If you ever think you can't do it, please don't ever think that. Just find something you enjoy doing, and get out there and have fun doing it. It doesn't have to be biking or swimming or anything else except what YOU like to do. And just do as much as makes you feel happy and proud. You will find that that feeling grows. Along with your ability. Spark On. :)
