week 1 of July

Saturday, July 07, 2012

I've been doing pretty well meeting my goals this week. I haven't taken the time to record my progress, but I did stay within my nutrition ranges most of the week, I got my cardio in during the first half of the week, but it went downhill after that. I did a better job than I had been doing at making time for prayer and sticking with it. That is the most important goal for me this month- to get a prayer "schedule" firmly established before our school year starts.

The week started off slow and lazy. We had a quiet 4th of July gathering with my family on Wednesday, and had our very dear neighbors over to play and stay for dinner on Thursday. It was such a wonderfully relaxing week, which is good, because it's been quite warm and humid. I'm glad we didn't have to be rushing around.

Thursday night we got a phone call saying that my husband's twin brother was in a motorcycle accident, and that he was being life-flighted to a hospital near us for surgery. My mother-in-law drove up that night, and none of us has gotten a lot of sleep since then. His surgery went well, and they expect him to move out of ICU this morning. So needless to say, making time for cardio was not high on my priority list, but I did do a lot of praying, mostly thanking God that his will was not to take Gregg home at this time, and that we have such a strong and supportive family. I also did not eat well yesterday. We went to a buffet for a late lunch/early dinner after visiting him at the hospital, and I was VERY hungry. I didn't make very good choices there, but it's done. Hopefully I will do better today. Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in. We'll see what the scale tells me.

Wow! I'm just reading this now. . .I'm thankful he's out of ICU and stable! I was going to ask how your reading is going, but I think I'll wait another week to ask.

Wow, Jen, I just saw this. I'm glad to hear things are going well for him, and I'll be praying.

There was a fatal motorcycle accident near us last week, too. I'm so glad my husband sold his years ago! But next week we'll be sure to be at the parade for Roar on the Shore just to look at them.

Thanks for your prayers ladies! He's been moved out of ICU, and is doing all right. So far the repair they did to the spleen seems to be holding up ok, he has a few broken ribs and a slightly broken shoulder (maybe just fractured?). All in all, he's doing well. It could have been much worse. He still has a long road ahead of him- the doctors told him he shouldn't be back to normal activities for 3-6 months, so continued prayer would be appreciated. Thanks again!
