July- Monthly Goals Update

Friday, July 06, 2012

...Weight...

I'm not going to establish a specific weight that I want to be at by the end of July. My goal for July is going to be inches.

...Gym/ Workouts...

I want to double my average time I typically spend working out. On average I spend about 10 hours a week. So I would like to increase that to about 20.

Write out a weekly workout plan.

Start 0-100 push ups workout.

Do an Abs workout daily.

Run/ Walk 300 miles.

Choose to ride my bike or walk instead of driving places.

Try Body Pump.

...Nutrition...

Watch Sodium and Fat intake

Reduce Calories. I've noticed that I eat for maintanance when I still have weight to lose. Which really doesn't make much sense.

5 A day

No sugar sweetened beverages

Drink one water jug a day (a little more than 8 cups)

Take a multivitamin

...Other Goals...

Reach out and talk to people.

Make a commitment to do something.

Do something hard everyday.

Find at least one thing to be proud of everyday.

Do most of the BLC challenges. When the challenges are hard for me I'm quick to skip them but those are probably the onces I need the most.

...Incentives...
I've never opted to reward myself for doing any of this because I felt that if I really wanted it then I shouldn't need things to motivate me. However, I am starting to see how it helps. I see how excited people get on here when acheieved another goal and earned something that they wanted and I see how caught up in needing "why's" that I am so it makes sense to give myself a reason to do things.

Set aside 3500cents for every week with a loss for fixing my car.

Sparring gear for getting to 175 lbs

New shoes for walking/running 300 miles.

Maybe more later...

I am the same with material incentives, I never use them. I don't think it really works for me. Although, I do find that "event/physical" type things motivate me--such has planning a hiking trip, or a standup paddle day rental on the lake, a surfing lesson etc. I do like that you are experimenting with the reward system though, you'll have to let me know if it has helped you with your motivation levels! Anyhow, I love your monthly goals! I think you will achieve them!!!

These are good goals and I love the rewards. Is that 300 miles in one month? Like 10 a day?

Good luck. Maybe changing your focus will work. I've been hooked on the scale. Maybe I'll follow your example this month. Thanks for the idea.
