Office of Immigration & Integration

I want to share with you , a typical week of my life here. Every Monday(lundi) & Tuesday (mardi) , I spend 8 hours in class for OFII; The French Govt. is very advance in knowing that true immigrants MUST integrate into society . ( sorry USA , you are failing in this big time .. )

France required me, to have a medical exam .. which was a chest x-ray, and a vision test, the doc took my height & weight . My blood pressure, and he felt my neck . I asked what the x-ray was for , and the doc said TB .. I told him, i thought that was passé ? He told me, some from 3rd world countries , still carry that disease !! I told him.. well, then shouldn't you test before they get off the plane ?? Not a month later they can infect everyone on the metro, and the Louvre ?? He agreed with me . so I coughed ..and smiled.

The 'interview" , i failed of course, it was a page of simple essays and questions.. i understood a little , but not enough to pass , so in failing ... i am now in " required classes ". I also had to sign a contract with the Republic, saying I will attend the classes, and if I fail to follow up, the Republic has the right to kick me out of France ! ( are u listening USA ? )

I have to carry around with me, a copy of my passport, & my Visa , that allows me to stay here one year , while I try to learn this very romantic & difficult language . The police , have the right to stop anyone , and ask for ID, for whatever reasons.. so I must keep this on my person. ( i think this is where AZ state got their ideas from ) I am cool with this , I carry a photocopy, not the real thing, in case I am robbed . Its not very likely, because Paris does not have the crime rate that NYC has .

The cost for OFII was 350, a great deal !! this includes the doc & the class ! I am attaching a link, in case u have any questions for me .

Habitez-vous en France? Pourquoi? Qu'est-que ce votre boulot? Elle me manque, La France. In regards to the TB, I spent a semester of college in Le Havre and then did a choir tour all over the country and when I graduated college I had no jobs lined up so I was going to try to substitute teach for a while. I failed my PPD (skin test for TB). I didn't have TB, but I had TB -- I had been exposed to the virus and my body was fighting it, but it didn't make me sick. So, alas, not passe and not just third world either.
