My workout stairs at the consignment gallery and more great arrivals!

emoticonThis summer's Teddy Bear Challenge is shaping up nicely. I'm really pushing myself to get in my exercise and watch my calorie count to meet my 5% weight loss goals for the team. Of course for me too...but my Teddy Team is always primary in my mind for pushing a little further. I love the idea that you rise or fall as a team. It's so true..in life and the world at large.

Here's my L~O~N~G set of stairs that I have committed to running at least 10 x daily on work days...remember it's NOT a/c in the back warehouse area...so you really get to huffing and puffing. I spread the stair climbing out through the day and most days I make that goal of 10 x up and down and a few days if we are busy and there are lots of customers with questions on items upstairs I make the climb even more frequently.

I'm also looking for a photo of the big double wide overhead door in the back that I pull up most days on a big pulley chain...this HAS to help tone the arms...doesn't it?

Then of course I know how you love to look at the new furniture arrivals...I have some of the prettiest stuff I've had in a long long time.

I love to 'layer up' little montages to make interesting displays. I've been doing LOTS of layering lately..because I just have so MUCH stuff. emoticon

I have these two little coral lamps with raw silk shades...so FLORIDA..so adorable!

Speaking of silk...check out this swivel accent chair..it's the most BEAUTIFUL combination of soft gray and lavender...like brand NEW! emoticon

I think this beautiful dresser with a marble inset top is sold today. The lady is supposed to come in and pay for it..but...ah...I've heard that line a few times before...so I'll believe it when she plunks down her money on the counter. I LOVE people's tactical approach to whittling down the price. First off they pick out any flaw they can possibly find. I usually try to give them about 10% if I have the room. Then they move on to tell you their story...sometimes EXTENDED story emoticonof why they NEED this piece...WANT this piece..but really can't AFFORD this piece. I listen patiently and tell them I've done the BEST I can in working with them on pricing. emoticonWhich is true...never B**S** a B** S**iter..got it?

When THAT tactic doesn't work (AND the richest customers never take the first rejection...this may be exactly WHY they are rich... emoticon) go onto the BUDGET...oh the BUDGET...well THAT changes everything.

I only have SO much in my BUDGET...yeah..okay well take your scroogie stinky budget to the next suckka down the road okay? I'm sure your budget possibly may be a little pinched because of the JAGUAR you drove in and parked in the parking lot..do you maybe think?

emoticon Note to thrifty shoppers...do NOT take the EXPENSIVE car to shop..take the clunker...oh..you only HAVE an expensive car...oppps...that may be a tiny problem.

So longer story short...this little gal gave me the whole nine yards...and still only got her 10% discount...HEY things are WORTH what they are WORTH and if you don't want to pay a fair price...well...NEXT! emoticon

But then she started negotiating FREE delivery...erp...people just WEAR you down don't they?

I held my ground and told her we would give her a very fair price of delivery for $35 which is WAY below the going price...again...take it or leave it...and

Ha..ha...just another day in the consignment biz...ya gotta love it..the stories you get to share!

I've learned that you should just come right out from the get go and say...would your consignee consider this amount for this item. SO much quicker...just cut to the chase..because BELIEVE me...the shop keeper has heard EVERY BRILLIANT strategy, story, mis..story... you have to lay on them...YEP..every one in the book! emoticon

Keep CALM and SHOP on! emoticon

One more beauty to close with...yes..those ARE actual button accents..how COOL is THIS?

You can make some extra money by turning the shop into a "cardio superstore." I can't imagine doing all of that work without a/c. woah!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. You have a really cool store with a lot of nice things. You have good taste my friend and a very good eye for decorating.

You have the beginnings of a book. Lady with a jaguar, the stagers, and I am sure others could all be the subjects in a collection of short stories.

Wow - wish I lived close - I just saw a couple of pieces I'd love to have.

How is business anyway? BTW - I know I have been out of the loop but how are things
with the house? Do let me know. Hope you came to a resolution with the bank.

Have a good weekend.

Hugs, Sunny

Love the furniture you have. The lamps are so cool. Boy the rich just dont give up wanting something for nothing. Hey us little guys have to make a living too. I know my hubby has to pay so much more for his auto body supplies its crazy. For a small pint of paint today he paid 110.00. And you wonder why we dont get ahead. Kudos on the stairs....you are really building muscle. Yeah! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I LOVE that little swivel chair...if only I lived closer! And the button bureau...wow.. what some people do... of course I wish I still had mom's button box. I think it got sold in her auction; at the time I was so in the midst of grief didn't really know what I was doing and the sibs set out a whole lot of stuff that I never ..in my right mind..would have allowed to be sold. .. but they wanted the auction done, the house put on the market before snow fell..and I wanted the winter to slowly go through things..and well, I was in the minority and so it goes... move on with life.. let things go.. forgive...
and enjoy the day..the moments..

LOVE consignment stores..l.discovered that in the town where my brother lives they have consignment stores that are open the first week and weekend of every month and people from the 'big' city drive there; I was wondering why there was so much traffic and when he told of these stores that have been opening in the past couple years I almost went crazy as I had never heard of this...so..next month first week/weekend, I know where I'll be. Some of the stores are open all the time, but most are not..not sure how they really can manage such a lifestyle/workstyle, but. seems to be working.. .

Absolutely love the pieces you have on display here. After all my years in FL I still love seashells anyway I can get them, so the lamps are especially appealing to me!

Will you take $10 each for them? HEY, I named my PRICE, right?

Gotta admit, I'm a big haggler. I've been thrifting since the 80's, mind you, and have a decent eye myself. I am the most thrilled with I can pay 10 cents for something, 50 cents tops. I kid, I kid, but I have found plenty of crazy deals like that at yard sales over the years.

My style is to name a price under what I'm willing to pay and go up from there. But hey, you have to be fair!

Bobbi I would love to have access to the stairs, why, there are 2 railings far enough apart that I could hold on to and navigate the stairs normally. I have bad knees and have a hard time going up stairs, won't do them if there is no railing, but even with one railing, I must take one step with one leg, then put the other leg on same step, and repeat.

It would be a good workout and therapy for me.

love the pics.
