This will be a living entry and a testament to the things I'm doing well. Thanks to my dietician and all the amazing Sparkers who commented on my Slow Progress blog, I'm going to do my best to stop wanting perfection and start focusing on all the great things I'm doing right now. I hope I don't get too braggy...just slap me if I do!
July 4 - set a timer for 5 minutes and cleaned a room of my house. Did that in 8 rooms, three times. So, that's 120 minutes of cleaning! House looks great.
July 5 - removed the question mark from my blog title "Slow Progress is Still Progress...Right?" is not "Slow Progress is Still Progress!" Love the subtle change in what the words convey! Also made great choices at lunch - turkey sandwich, baby carrots, and a bowl of fresh fruit. It's so much easier to eat healthy food now than it has been in the past. My relationship with food is changing for the better.
July 6 - I was so sick today that I had to leave work. But I still wore my pedometer all day!
July 7 - A good day. I made a home-cooked breakfast, then hit the gym. At a party, I went outside and played croquet, frisbee, and ladderball instead of sitting inside with the food.
July 8 - Another good day. Got my bike ready for tomorrow's ride, did meal planning and grocery shopping, then prepped food. I made a whole chicken, two types of protein bars, baked oatmeal for 6 days of handy breakfast, and a 73-calorie dessert. Then I cleaned up after myself. I even did some homework for my Tuesday class. Oh, and went for a 1-mile walk with hubby.
July 9 - Third good day in a row! I stayed in range, got a bike ride in before work, hit the gym with the trainer after work, and did swim sprints after my session. I also got most of my homework done. And hubby made dinner, so he gets to boast an accomplishment, too!
July 10 - How long can I keep this up? Another day in range, even though I am having insane cravings for banana cake. That's a weird one...can't say I've ever had that craving before. But I'm ignoring it! I also went for a walk as soon as I got home from school.
July 11 - Day 5 of being in range in a row! I woke up on time today and got in a 6 mile bike ride. I had a craving for Doritos, so I grabbed a bag, but made sure it fit. No cheating, no whining. Go me!
July 12 - Day 6 in range. Wow. I'm on a roll! I was faced with a party buffet at work, and I still managed to stay in range. I'm noticing that I'm much less hungry than I used to be. I think it's due to lowered sugar intake.
July 13 - In range, 7 days in a row. Amazing!
July 14 - Ran/walked 7 miles today, then had a session with the trainer a few hours later. Probably would have been better off having the session immediately after the run, but live and learn. I'm still proud of myself for doing it! Weighed in with a 3.5-pound loss today. In range if you consider how many calories I burned (2000+) through exercise.
July 15 - Got my homework done and did a good job prepping for my team's presentation on Tuesday, even with a birthday party in the mix. Played outside during the party. Cooked a breakfast to have something available all week long.
July 16 - Had a Greek yogurt, pecan, and fruit parfait before my workout tonight. Wow! Protein bars and energy gels got nothin' on that combo.
July 17 - In range, back on track.
July 18 - In range, day 2
July 19 - In range, day 3
July 20 - In range, day 4! Had a great session at the gym with lots of sprints and weight activities. I felt so strong! Did clean & jerk or whatever it's called with 40 pounds and felt like I could have done more.
July 21 - Got lots of errands finished today! I don't get out shopping much, so was happy to have enough time to do stuff. Also cleared out 8000 emails from my inbox at home.
July 22 - Was able to work a mandatory run in with a fun activity. My husband wanted to play disc golf, but I needed to fit in an 8-mile run. I didn't want to disappoint him or me. So I suggested that we make it a group outing and I invited my running partner to run the 5+ miles to the park with me and then play a round of golf. Even though 3 miles into the run, she got paged and had to get picked up to go back to work, it was a victory in not allowing the "fun" things in life knock out the "necessary" things in life - they can be combined. Also stayed in range, amazingly.
July 23 - In range, day 2! Had a great session with the trainer - he moved me up to ADVANCED ABWORK!! Ow. But a good ow.
July 24 - In range, day 3. Plus I paid attention in class today, and didn't bug out as soon as class "time" was over - I stayed to finish hearing the lecture.
