Happt 4th of July everyone. I just want to take a second to give my thanks and prayers to our troops who keep this great country safe for the rest of us.
So yesterday me and the other co-ops had the day off due to the holiday. I had a productive morning (good breakfast, did some much needed laundry and worked out abs) then went over to one of the guys' houses and we sat out by his pool and enjoyed the nice day. I knew there was going to be a grill out, but that got moved to dinner. For the first time ever, I was able to responsibly enjoy some snacks with out going overboard. It always used to be an all or nothing for me, but I was able to enjoy some junk food, and my calories for the day where actually under! (I think, I had to estimate a lot of stuff, especially number of servings and size)
I think I had maybe a serving of pita chips with a humus dip. And then an ounce or two of pretzel sticks throughout the day. Proud of myself for keeping those in check, and it wasn't even all that stressful. I feel the heat helped as that took away part of my appetite. I drank water all day and that stopped me from mindlessly going through a whole bag. Also, everyone has pretty much accepted that I'm taking a month off drinking.
Once we fired up the grill, the options were johnsonville brats or a beef shoulder roast. I figured the roast was the better option as it was less processed, lower fat (I think) and the big part was it wouldn't need a bun full of simple carbs. Had a little baked beans to go with it. Estimated it at 8 oz, hard to tell since it wasn't the shape of steaks or chicken I'm used to. Added everything up at home and I was under for the day! Basically, I ate the same amount I do on a typical day, but I didn't have milk, fruit, or vegetables so not the greatest, but for a holiday far better than I was expecting.
Going to Buffalo Wild Wings this weekend to watch UFC 148 with the same friends. I figure I can allow myself an order (or two) of wings and 2 beers. I'll go over my cals and fat for the day, but I feel I've earned it. One last break day before the competition August 4th.
Happy short work week now everybody!
