Day 172: Action Plan: Starting at the Top!

Thursday, July 05, 2012

OK. I've decided I have to do something different. Something has to change. I'm picking a bad time because we're leaving again tomorrow for awhile but I will pick back up when I get back. And I guess no time is a bad time to start something new. I've decided to start again, well kinda, in a way. To go back to the top of the to-dos. When I first joined SP, well not when I first joined.. I kinda bailed on that attempt, but when I REALLY "joined" on December 12th I started with the diet stages. I'm going to start reading through those again and REALLY try with the whole food tracker thing again (cringe). I think it got hard for me when I started making all of my own stuff, homemade soups, etc. It's harder to track than prepackaged food. But I guess I can find comparable foods and track those? I know the sodium and stuff like that will be off though because I use minimal and prepackaged stuff seems to pack it in, BUT at least maybe the calories would be about the same??
I don't know. I know I have to do something. I'm going up and not down. That could be a problem if it continues. lol! I thought I would read through and make sure there isn't something I could be doing differently. I KNOW I need to work on getting that ST back in. I'm having a time getting that in with the boys home for summer. They always try and "join" in when I do my videos and it stresses me out. Yet they won't try these videos I've been getting them that are for families to do together that wouldn't stress me out.
So one of the first action plans was to try and fit in your 10-15 minutes of fitness in here and there. I'm already walking plenty either outside or on the treadmill so I thought I would use this action plan with ST. Starting today I will try and fit a total of 10-15 minutes of ST in. Even if sporadically through out the day, 10 crunches here, 10 arm curls there. I CAN DO THIS!!! I will continue with my walking and just add this in. I CAN DEFINITELY DO THIS!

It's a plan! It's my action plan! I CAN DO THIS! :)

Time to weigh in!

Just a suggestion but is there any way that the boys could go play with friends or even watch a movie while you ST? Or could you try getting it in before they wake up or after they go to sleep?

Good game plan. Maybe this is a minor plateau? Hate them. They're annoying little buggers.....

Wish I had some wisdom for you, but I am dry at the moment. What I do have is my friendship. I will be here for you! Cheering you on and handing you a kleenex during the tough times!!

You're right that its a bit harder to track stuff made from scratch. It helps to enter the things you make frequently as shared recipes, then you can just add servings from those recipes in a couple of clicks.

You are definitely making the right call on tracking everything.

Tracking food is difficult sometimes but so worth it. Hope your new plan works! emoticon

Keep on tracking and trying. Maybe you can arrange activities with the kids that are exercise for you. Swimming is good, are they old enough to play baseball or basketball. What about soccer? I know you will do it.

Tracking is so important.... at least for me. I hope you will do it.

I know how you feel about the kids.... for me I would be MUCH cooler in the living room doing my workouts we have a fan and AC in that room, but I just don't want hubby and son to watch me. So I try and tough it out. They don't want to do it with me.... so I feel silly doing it front of them.
I don't know how old your boys are, but think about it this way if you can. Your boys are wanting to be active. They are seeing you get fit and healthy and that is a lasting impression. I know it might be stressful, but have you thought about trying and doing your workout with them during the day and by yourself at night? Just a thought.

It sounds like you have a plan..... we all know emoticon

I'm glad you are going back to tracking. It is probably the most difficult part of this journey but the most necessary. It is difficult to track when you make your own meals but you can always add the recipe the the recipe calculator and add it to your tracker. It creates a lot of recipes plus gives you reference for future meals. The set up is the hardest part. Also, set up groupings. Typically we eat the same things together. For instance, I usually have a green smoothie every morning. The base ingredients don't vary that much. Lunch is typically a salad with the same base ingredients. It makes tracking so much easier and very fast. Now it only takes me a few minutes to track my food for the entire day. Good luck!

I think it's normal for our bodies to plateau a little. You have had incredible losses repeatedly. And I know you will start losing again. It's smart to change things up. I hope that helps!

I am so glad you are pushing through the rough spots. I am right there with you. This loosing weight stuff is so difficult but with perseverance and picking ourselves back up when we are down we will get there. Trying new angels. emoticon I can do it... Strength training is difficult to work in. I too struggle with this. And you are so right, it is hard with kids under your feet. Don't feel guilty about telling them you need 20 minutes and they are not allowed to interrupt you. It is something important to you , you are worth it. And the kiddo's understand more than we think they do! Or if that doesn't work, have them read for 20-30 minutes (timer) and then you do your ST. I know you can do it. Love your goals!! Keep it up... you are getting there. emoticon

Good plan Sara. Yesterday killed me. I didn't want to resist the things I've given up, so I ate them and the scale is laughing at me for it. I got a wicked sunburn to top it off, so exercising today is going to be a challenge but I have to do it.

Slowly but surely you will get back on track. I think your action plan is very good. You have to use the tracker for your food. It is really important for girls like us to keep ourselves accountable for what we're eating, even when we eat healthy. You can still go overboard.

Have a good time wherever you're going! How long are you going for this time?
Have a great day and thanks for the spark goodie. It is great having you for a spark friend!! emoticon
