judges 4-5

Thursday, July 05, 2012

okay: this is not about deborah, the female judge. this is about Jael tonight. so she is set up wrong.

her husband and her, related to Moses, made the decision to move away from the Israelites. they did not move there so that they could become more spiritual. they moved there, because they were getting closer and closer to sin. (they moved nearer to the enemy's land, Canaan).

they became friendly with the enemy. so friendly, that this woman, all by herself, invited the enemy in, and he came in! he fell asleep at her house! he trusted her! their family, Heber's family, was so respected and liked with the enemy, that he fell into a DEEP sleep!

and she looked at him sleeping and drove a tent peg through his temple.

i really relate to her. how scared she had to have been. how worried that he would wake up. and how low the household had gotten, and how far away from God. and here was her chance. here was her chance to make it right before God. to fix the family's sins, before God. to make the family a legacy of repentance. kill the enemy. right the wrong. fix the patterns in the family, to save not only that family, but the whole nations, 12 nations of Israel.

i want to be that woman. i want a chance to right my wrongs. to save my family. my problems with my food have affected my husband and kids. my whole family is in bondage to the sins of gluttony, greed, debauchery. please God, when i get this chance to right this wrong, please give me bravery and boldness to carry your plan out!!

I'm praying for your strength, for sure, and also for the discretion of the Holy Spirit to inform you when something is yours to make right, and when something is best left in the Hands of God.

xoxo Sue
