Asparagus is the new potatoes

Well, I'd been keeping off the empty carbs all week so it had to happen. I was hijacked today by two Choco Leibnitz biscuits and half a Danish pastry. So I got home and looked in the fridge, and tonight's supper instead of being smoked fish pie was smoked fish and poached egg on asparagus. Surprising good though there seems to be a space in my stomach where a heap of nice mashed potato would have gone.
As I suspected, one of my bad eating habits is low protein. I'm a bit egg bound at present, having eaten half a dozen of them in five days.
I haven't got photos of haddock, asparagus or eggs, but here's a photo of my kind of breakfast, taken in St Remy de Provence a couple of years ago.
Just one look at that and I'm inspired to lose weight. Everyone in Provence is slender and smart, and I stand out as large and English. I'm going to be there again in September, and it would be nice if . . .
