well I guess that means I decided "not"
I'm actually about to enter a 'hunker down' mode and decided I want to give myself a little break. I would like to have 4lbs off by the end of this month, and on Sunday I will be starting my last month of my INSANITY REBOOT!!
Month 2 of Insanity is a real butt-kicker, make no mistake. I will need to focus on my nutrition and rest with intention and no messing around!
The 4th of July holiday has been a time we've enjoyed going out of town for a night or two and this year that's not possible b/c it's in the middle of the week and I'm stuck being back up on call for work while someone else is out. Oh well! So the long and short of it is that I decided I'm throwing a little party for me and my hubby here at the house, just the two of us, for fun and silliness.
Yesterday I bought an inflatable pool at Walmart. I was going to get one of the little plastic kiddie ones, which we've had in the past for the pugs, but they got busted up pretty fast. My friend at work told me she got one that she can lay down in like a lounger, that you blow up. So that's what I got. Except I didn't get a pump. Yes we have a bike pump. Yes, my hands are awfully sore now. I decided I didn't want to buy an air pump and how long could it take?
The answer is that it can take a long time. I pumped first then went for a run. Then I pumped some more. It has a top and a bottom ring, and is kind of a rectangle and about 103" wide. It's filling up now! And that is taking forever. I just did Insanity Cardio Core & Balance, and it's still not done. We're not going to fill it all the way, b/c will take Cubby and Oscar in. This will be first time we've had Oscar around a pool - hope he has fun.
Last night I had in my head some things I wanted to make. I have a recipe from Family Fresh cooking for a tart - actually she's got a cherry tart and a tomato tart on the site made with almond flour. I want to make them both, so ground almonds last night. I also did a bit of shopping. I've had a taste for some kettle chips, and I got some, along with what I think are the best tortilla chips I have ever had. Xochitl - had them last week at a friend's house. She had the garlic ones. Oh so good. I got some fancy-schmancy tomato sauce with eggplant. Grilled eggplant on my Forman grill, and then made sandwiches with the eggplant, the sauce, some local brie, and avocado. And I ate a lot of chips, both kinds. No tracking!!
There were bubbles involved and a glass of red wine, and last but not least, oh I have to confess...peanut butter oreos.
THEN, I did a little searching on Pinterest and Googled until I found a recipe for bread machine monkey bread. I used my own sourdough starter, and put that into the machine for dough cycle. this morning I finished it in the oven. I didn't put in all the butter - but I did use a pudding mix. I got inspired on here by reading the "How to use up an unhealthy pantry" in the boards. And so I ate that for breakfast. And I ate a lot of it. Until I didn't want anymore of it.
this afternoon we have a flank steak that I'm marinading. I will serve that with the 'Chef Meg chimichurri' sauce. And I'm making the tomato tart and the cherry tart - except I don't have cherries, so I'll probably use raspberries instead. And I'll have an adult beverage in my blow up pool while I soak up some sun. I intend to track very little of this consumption. haha
I've been trying to talk myself down from being so uptight all the time and from getting so frustrated w/my husband and my job. Can't do anything about most things, you can't change people, you can only change yourself. I am pretty tightly wound most of the time, and if all I can do is calm myself down, well - that's a start. I want to be happier in my life. Sometimes I wonder if I am lacking the capacity to have happiness. I know it's here. And so I need to accept what I can get done, decide what I want to get done - and go with the flow.
So - off to hit the showers, then fire up ye olde grill and hit that silly little pool. And mind the dogs' nails. I don't want a snag in my pool to blow all my hard work!
OOOOH and I've got sparklers. We have them leftover from a few years ago... I had to have them and then I burned the crap out of my finger when I lit the first one. then I didn't feel like playing any more. So we still have a bunch. So I'm going to use them too!!
Happy Fourth to everyone!!
