Hot, Hot, HOT!

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

It was 100 degrees yesterday. It is supposed to get up to 104 degrees today. I did not work out yesterday, but we did do some shopping in preparation for today. I will not be doing a hard workout today, because we have family festivities planned, and I will be running around with my child in the sprinkler later. But for the last three days of this week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) I will be going to the gym to make up for these days lost. When it is so hot, it is really risky for me to work out because I have to push myself so hard. I am ok with waiting until I can get to the gym, however, because I will just increase my workout time a little bit to make up for the lost time.

Yesterday, I went on my yearly visit to my oncologist, and he was so happy to see how smaller I am! He is so proud of me. Dr. Bob, as everyone lovingly calls him, is like a second father to me, and has always pushed me to strive for the best I can be. He is excited for my upcoming graduation, and for Tony and I (Tony, whom he approves of) to get married. He ran some tests, and the only thing he is concerned about is checking out why my liver tests are so weird. So I have to go meet with the gastroenterologist to figure it out, and they want to get this done before I start school again in August. Otherwise, unlike 99% of all other post radiation therapy to the throat patients, I don't have hypothyroidism, AND because of my tireless work on cardio the last 6 months, I have almost beaten my cardiomyopathy (which is something rarely ever done as well).

The honey and I have made sure that this 4th of July will be a healthy one. We are making kebabs on the grill at my parent's house, and we will be playing outside most of the afternoon into the evening. We have a bunch of water ready with ice (Alex loves his "icy water"), and hopefully we pasty people (Alex and I are PALE people) don't get too sun burnt. Epic holiday indeed!

I hope you all have an amazing holiday too!

Sounds like a great day ahead of you! Keep up with the sunscreen, wear a hat, stay in the shade! I am also a pasty. My legs blind people, even in the summer! I burn and freckle, never tan. emoticon
