Rheumatologist agreed with my plans to prevent further osteopenia...

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

I need to exercise more (especially walking) and take 1200 mg of calcium per day.

That seems pretty simple but he said it was not severe enough for any prescription medication as it is only osteopenia and not osteoporosis.

Sunshine, walk, and added calcium - that's what's called for! You can get extra calcium from dark leafy greens too. Fresh spinach salads, broccoli and kale are a few. My sister recommended eating the broccoli stems - they are very sweet; just cut them up in long strips like carrots. emoticon
