Sunday was spent with the family in the lovely shore community of Cape May, NJ. Cape May is at the very southern tip of New Jersey, Architecturally, it is a Victorian community, About 30 years ago it became very trendy, A lot of old houses were converted into quaint B&Bs. A lot of fantastic restaurants sprang up, I think a lot of laws were passed so the homeowners are required to keep up their homes in proper fashion,
We had a great day. One of the negatives of going there is that it is far. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive in good traffic. In bad traffic, who knows? Fortunately, traffic was not bad at all. In fact, the whole place was less crowded than I expected. It was very hot, but the water was great. A lot of times it is too cold at this time of year, but it was about 80 degrees and very refreshing. Sweet!!!
While walking around, I came across this garden ornament. My pixie teammates will appreciate this, I hope.
To anyone who is familiar with Cape May, this is on Jackson Street, The yellow and white striped awning (vaguely visible in the background) is the marvelous Mad Batter restaurant.
We had dinner at the Lobster House, a restaurant on an active fishing pier. Had a great view sitting on the pier. Dinner (mainly crabs) was delicious. The crabs were so in season!!
Cape May is the kind of place where you can really kick off your shoes and relax. The day didn't disappoint. Of course it would have been nice if it was a little cooler, but hey, it is so hot in the Northeast. It was a nice reprieve.
