Hypoglycemia and exercise

My body is determined to make things difficult. Just when I think I've cracked the code so I can exercise, I bottom out and have to go back to the drawing board.

I've reduced carbs and insulin with the blessing of my endo. I get about 100-120 carbs a day and my insulin has gone from 12 units to 8 units (7 units before swimfit).
When I walk, I take a snack of nuts or raisins or a power bar so my BG doesn't make a drastic drop and when I do my stretch band exercises, it's at home so I break and grab a piece of fruit so no problem there but swimfit is 45 minutes and I really push myself and that's where I run into a problem. Tonight, even though I was at 6.8 (123) just before I started due to carb loading at dinner, I tanked when I tested after class...all the way down to 2.8 (50.8). Last week, I had to leave the pool 1/2 way through because I got dizzy and started seeing spots and I tested at 1.7 (31 yikes!).

I test at the 1/2 way mark now but tonight, I was at 4.8 (87) so I wasn't unhappy with those numbers.

I hope I can get the formula right without having to increase carbs again because I'm so much more comfortable with this number ...it fits my eating pattern much better.

My avg. for the past two months has been 4.8 (87) which is what caused my endo to reduce my insulin. She's thrilled with my progress and thinks I can increase my BG slightly with the insulin reduction but from what I've seen this week, I'm posting the same numbers I did when my insulin was higher.

On a happy note... Today, I lost a pound but it was a huge milestone! I had lost weight on spark two years ago but I gained 20 pounds of it back. Since my diagnosis, I've lost 21 pounds so I'm now officially losing weight I haven't lost before lol... That excites me!

    Not fun. I had a episode yesterday, as well, after exercising. For me, I need to make sure that I carbo load very well before I head to the gym. It took me hours to recover!

    It is a balancing act and those lows are not pleasant. I bottom out too and I hate eating candy. Isn't funny how our bodies are working against us when we are trying to get it under control? yikes! keep going.
