Top 10 Things I Am Grateful For.

Sunday, July 01, 2012

Well I am going to follow other members and list the top ten things in my life that I am grateful for right now.
I love some, I like some, I am happy about some. But most of all I am grateful.
There is no order to these 10, other than this first one. It is #1.

1. The most important thing that I am grateful for right now is "I'm here".
You think why is that?
You see a little over two and a half years ago my doctor told me I probably
had a couple of years to live unless I lost weight.
So I lost weight and started to live a full life again. Making me a very happy
girl. I went from this obese women of 335 lb to this fabulous women .

2. I love doing yoga/pilates. It's good for the mind and body. Here I am stretching
before a session. Sitting on the floor, legs out in front, bend from the waist and
touch my head to my left knee.. Sometimes I even touch my head to the floor.

3. Grateful for my two knee replacements. I was too heavy for years for the
doctor to do the replacements. Finally last April I got the right one, and the
left in September. Being able to walk, without walkers, canes, or using electric
carts is a joy. Giving me the freedom I so wanted. Now I can go any where on
my own two feet. Believe me I do it all too. Ski, hike, and lots of walking.

4. I love my dog, Sir Titan of York. A adorable Yorkie who walk with me every day
for at least a mile. We walked day 184 today.
We even walked in the snow.

5. I love shopping for clothes and SHOES, I went from 4X ,5X to 10, 8's even
have a few 6's. For some reason some of my jeans are 10's. That's because my
waist still has some more to lose. And there's no give in jeans. Smile!!
I just got a beautiful pair of black leather high boots. They fit so nice in
the calf. I even ware them with a pair of jeans tucked in.
They join the 58 other pair of shoes and heels I have. For over 8 years I had two
pair of shoes that I was able to ware. I am making up for that now.
Shoes in hanging bag and on floor in closet. I tried to put them on the bed
and take a picture but couldn't fit them in. Smile!!

6. Love my 4G Thrill phone. It does everything. All the apps I could need. Camera,
video, games, movies, even have my Kindle on it. And it plays 3D too. It's
awesome. I don't know how I got alone so long without it.

7. Here's some thing I also love. I have arthritis in the hands, I really need this.
I found it in the thrift store. Until then I had some other thing that was
supposed to work, but hardly ever did. It aids me in opening jars , bottles.

8. Something I love right now is my patio container garden. Here's my tomato
plants and a few other plants.

9. Love my family and all my friends. And one very special man who has turned
out to be a soul mate. Too many to post pictures of.

10. I love myself. The fact that I can accept myself for who I am. I have accepted
my age, looks, my abilities. To live each day in peaceful environment. To work
toward a better life for those who will live after me.

When I thought about what is really important to me right now. What do I really love. It was really my life as it it is now. I am in a very happy place.
For sometime I felt lost, I didn't know who I was. I didn't know the women who stared back at me in the mirror.
But that has changed. I found myself and along the way met some wonderful people who have helped me immensely.
I didn't list Spark as something I love. but I do. As most of you know I log on everyday and am very consistent. Spark is defiantly one of the top things in my life.
Thought for today."Peace, like love, is an active process. If we truly want it, we must learn to do it."
Take care, stay positive.
Peace and Love.
Tisha

This is so incredibly beautiful. Sorry that I'm late to the party (this blog was written over six weeks ago), but I'm just now getting to explore your page and your previous blogs. We have SP buddies in common, which is how I found you in the first place.

I just LOVE the picture of you stretching before your yoga class! That alone says it all. And being somewhat younger, you're telling me without words, "What's your excuse?" Thanks for the kick in the pants.

And congrats on all your success!

Wonderful to see,

Nu

What a wonderful pick-me-up - thank you, Tisha. Your blog reminds me of why I continue to track and work to maintain my fitness. I never again want to feel the way I did two years ago.

You sound like a wonderful woman and I'm so happy that you've fought your way back to health and life.

PS - I'd have the shoe habit - big time - too, if it weren't for a massive bunion. That deformity has save a ton of room in my closet. I tell my husband he should be grateful for all the $$$ it saves, too :)

What a wonderful list Tish. I identify with so many of those things on your list--like SHOPPING! What fun it is again. And I have got to find one of those opener things. I just struggle with opening everything. Little Titan is so cute. I wanted a little lapdog again. We had Maltese before. That is who Maggierosebowl was. She was truly the sweetest dog that ever lived--I will miss her always. But we lost all three of our Maltese from old age over the years and were dog-less for over a year until son talked me into Lola, our new Bulldog. Right now she is a lapdog, which I love. But I don't know how much of a lapdog she will be when she weighs 40 lbs., and she is growing so fast, that won't be long!!!

You are so right, we have taken back our lives, added years to them too! LIFE IS GOOD!

P.S. I forgot to comment about how you used to only have two pairs of shoes you could wear. I had ONE--a pair of Birkenstock sandals that I wore with socks in Winter and without socks in Summer. They were the only shoes that would fit over my fat blocks--that's what I called my feet. Sometimes walking in snow was a real challenge in those Birks. What fun it is to have LOTS and LOTS of shoes now, I even got a pair of boots for Christmas--LOVE them. I do still wear the Birks, had to adjust the straps to the tightest holes, but they're still comfy and I wear them in the summer occasionally--but no longer in the WINTER! That's what the boots are for!

That last paragraph in this blog is where I am, I am so depressed and every second of the day I sk myself why I am so powerless over food and why I have let it totally ruin my life. I have not let anyone take any pics of me for two years but I can tell you I look very similar to you in the before pic on this blog, even our hair colors are the same. I can not hardly do anything daiily due to extreme tiredness. I have hypothyroid, high blood pressure and severe sleep apnea, just started machine 2 months ago and also have a very fatty liver. All of my hopes and dreams have went down the toilet, I have a wonderful man, three great kids, lots of animal family too but I am just such a mess. My house is now falling apart, I cannot even take care of the cleaning, the most I do is do laundry and keep dishes up and try to make dinner, beyond that not much more, I feel like I am slowly descending into madness and I don't know what to do. I am only fifty but act like i am 80. Why do I do this too myself, sorry to unload all this on you but I want so much to pick up my life again, be happy and healthy and I seem to just be one big mess. I hope I can turn my life around and do it! Just like you, you are such an inspiration. I know you know where I am in my mind right now because you have been here before. Thank you for blogging, i so need this kind of support.

Most seniors are pretty well satisfied with life. I think it comes from being ground down, maybe. I had a little different experience to get me started the second time - my neurologist started yelling in my face that he had been telling me to lose a half pound a week for two years, and now I'm 20 pounds heavier. Of course I yelled back that I couldn't lose a half pound a week - just tell me where I need to be, so he did, and I did. It does help to have a candid doctor once in a while.
