I’ve had a hard time recently getting all my workouts in in the first week of a new plan. I am here to gladly pronounce that I made it to week 2 of my second round of P90X2. I did skip the yoga, but didn’t skip working out all together that day. Last Thursday was my yoga day. It was also the day that i started the Tai Cheng program. So instead of yoga, i did day 1 Tai Cheng and also walked on a treadmill for 30 minutes. I consider the week a success.
Despite eating fast food twice last week( both times it was chicken strips from Arby’s or Dairy Queen no sides, no drink) I was able to stick with the nutrition plan and get in the recommended amount of each food category at least 90% of the time. From June 24-30th, I lost 3.3 pounds. When i weighed in this morning, I was down another pound.
My thoughts on Tai Cheng:
It moves at a much slower pace than X2 or any of the other Beachbody programs that i’ve done, but it is a nice change in pace.
Doing the neural reboot (i think its about 17 minutes long) everyday, I’ve already seen improvements in my posture.
I think the foam rolling we do on our legs in the neural reboot will eventually help. Right now, using the rumble roller, it is really painful. I am optimistic about it though. I think i have a lot of “breaks” applied when it comes to my legs.
The actual Tai Chi movements are fun to learn and i am enjoying learning a new one every day. I’ve never done Tai Chi before so the slow pace of it doesn’t bother me. Looking at week 2, it looks like I will be doing those same 6 moves, but this time in combos. I look forward to it.
I ordered the master series when i got the Tai Cheng workout. This came with a Qi Gong DVD that i used yesterday along with the neural reboot and the Tai Chi portion. Qi Gong is about 8 mins long. It was about bringing in good energy to the body and releasing the bad energy. In the video Dr. Cheng says that it is a good exercise to do when you wake up in the morning, pre-workout, post workout, and/or before you go to bed at night. It was interesting.
In the master series, I also received a master class DVD which i won’t do until week 13, and I got a Body Alignment For Better Health DVD, which i haven’t looked at yet, but will soon.
