Back to tracking and Running?

I've been continuing to exercise and track it daily, but the scale has been slipping the wrong way. ( just a little ). So I am recommitting to tracking all my food and water intake for the month of July.
Perhaps this will get the scale moving the right way again.
I rode a total of 581 miles on my mountain bike in June. My official goal for the month was 500 miles, but I wanted to hit 600 miles. 2 business trips got in the way of that stretch goal.
This month, I tried running. Now I have not done any sort of fitness running in over 25 years. so while on my first trip this month, I tried 2 miles on the treadmill immediately followed by 3+ miles outside. I was sore for several days, but I almost enjoyed that run. My second run was planned for 6 miles while I was in Houston this past week. I learned that running in the dark is not for me. After about 1.5 miles, I did a face plant, got a few nice cuts , ugly bruises and road rash . . . Next time, I will schedule my run for daylight hours. However, biking is still going to be my main mode of fitness activity. I am however going to pick up some light dumbells and start doing some light resistance training while participating in conference calls at work.
I just spend two days outdoors in 100 degree heat with my youngest son at a cub scout camp. The weight that I have lost and my overall improved fitness and really made dealing with 100 degree heat much easier.
There is no sign of the heat wave letting up hear in Kansas City, so I will be doing my bike rides in the early morning hours.
