My daughter won the Congressional Art Contest in our district in our state... She was honored with a reception locally where she received an award. She also received two round trip tickets to Washington DC for the opening ceremony of the Congressional Art Display.
Each trip was on one of these purple planes :)
We first went to the Rayburn building where the congressional offices are. Then we began our tour... This is my daughter standing in the Cannon Tunnel near her artwork: My Palette for this Painting

In the Crypt. Although it's called the crypt, no one is buried here. (dang!) but it is where some funerals (like Ronald Reagan's) were held.
Inside the Rotunda. Lots of amazing artwork.
These steps lead down to the visitor's center.
Outside... all three of us.
Out to eat at Rock Bottom

I never thought I'd like a big city... especially Washington DC, but I was happily surprised. We had a really short, but wonderful time. We also visited 2 of the 14 Smithsonian Museums... and felt like we flew through those! I hope to visit again with the whole family. A whole week wouldn't be long enough!
