Heat and Exercise

Saturday, June 30, 2012

My treadmill is in the basement and normally it is much cooler in the basement. Now, the outside temperature is over 100 degrees and the basement is not as cool as normal. I thought I would be able to do a normal workout but it was all I could do to get it done. I did the hour on the treadmill watching a show that I like and I did the 10 minute strength training video but every minute was SO LONG. I just kept fighting the desire to stop. I don't know when I last found my workout just so hard!!! Maybe is was due to the fact that I have been hot all day and I could not get cooled down. Now, I am going to take a cool shower!

Does anyone have some cool exercise ideas that don't require a pool?

I am grateful that I have a home and an AC (even if it isn't keep up very well). I hurt and am praying for all the people who have lost their homes and their power this week! I need to spend more time counting my blessings and less time whining!

I am having the same problem. I have no AC and just fans, but the house stays in the 87-90 range on the main floor. Hard to get motivated to do much even while drinking lots of fluids.

I agree with Nellie about hydrating enough. Another thought is keep a cool damp towel to use while working out. I do this will doing my Wii Walk It Out and I find out it helps. good luck emoticon

Probably it was hard because of the heat. Have you been drinking enough water?
