If you were a character from a novel, who would you be?

Saturday, June 30, 2012

I just finished a mostly entertaining book, where the characters from "Pride & Prejudice" are alive and well in an alternate (parallel) universe - and someone from our world accidentally goes back in time.

Made me wonder - if you were a character in a novel, who would you be? And why?

As a child, I would have loved to be Pippi Longstocking!

If it were a Jane Austen I'd defiitely pick the heroine from Persuasion! That's my all time fav JA book. I'll put some thought into another character . . .

I loved that novel (the update I mean) but: Jane did it better!

And: I'd be Isabel Dalhousie from Alexander McCall Smith's Sunday Philosophy Series! If you don't know this . . consider giving it a try.

(Love Emma, though: and Elizabeth Bennett too of course).

I love Jane Austen's books, so I'd probably be one of her heroines. Not from "Mansfield Park" or "Northanger Abbey" - not fond of those heroines. But maybe "Emma" or "Persuasion" - or definitely Elizabeth from "Pride & Prejudice" - someone who is spirited, who thinks and speaks up for herself, who is polite and fits into society but isn't swept away by appearance and isn't impressed by status as much as manners.

I would have made a good Edwardian lady.......
