Coco's Findings by Dr. Smith at Clemson Hospital

Friday, June 29, 2012

I have completed the necropsy and I am about as sure as I can be as to the cause of death. The stomach was located on the wrong side of the abdomen, was dark to black and had presumptive diagnosis is gastric dilatation--volvulus (GDV or "bloat") . The histopath (looking at the tissues under the microscope) will likely not reveal any more info since all of the tissues were very severely decomposed.
I really dont think that doing toxicology would benefit us in any way...but I will have it done if you still want it done. Please let me know about the toxicology asap.
If I get anymore info, I will let you know.
The case will take about a week to finalize and I will email you the report.
I will look to hear from you soon.

Owning a pet never has a happy ending, but the time with them is worth every minute and every heartbreak

My thoughts are with you
