Coco's Findings by Dr. Smith at Clemson Hospital
Friday, June 29, 2012
I have completed the necropsy and I am about as sure as I can be as to the cause of death. The stomach was located on the wrong side of the abdomen, was dark to black and had ruptured....my presumptive diagnosis is gastric dilatation--volvulus (GDV or "bloat") . The histopath (looking at the tissues under the microscope) will likely not reveal any more info since all of the tissues were very severely decomposed.
I really dont think that doing toxicology would benefit us in any way...but I will have it done if you still want it done. Please let me know about the toxicology asap.
If I get anymore info, I will let you know.
The case will take about a week to finalize and I will email you the report.
I will look to hear from you soon.
