I have never blogged before but I want to really commit to this change - it has to be long term. I'm done with diets - they are for people who just want to lose a few pounds for their holiday bikini or posh evening gown. The rest of us yo-yo dieters need to go through a change of life - for good, forever. Stop using food as a reward, to cheer us up, as entertainment, as a prop. So how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
For bite one I have spent a month and a half getting used to this great site and tracking my food every day, reading articles and blogs. I have bought digital scales which measure in mils and grams and ounces etc. I have viewed my nutrition tracker and seen that I do have a balanced diet as I thought but it is also easy to see which foods are taking me over my calorie range some days. Bread is a major culprit - big surprise - I thought it would be chocolate and puddings!
Well here I am back from a week's hols in Devon ready to move on to bite two of my life change. So stage two is to reduce those carb portion sizes a little and increase the veg portions to make up. Also to start exercising every day - just a little at first and build up.
And now I am going to blog every now and then so I can see the changes and hopefully improvements and successes. Strike that "hopefully" - I am going to improve. Wish me luck.
