Shopping with the Aliens

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

So, I went shopping today to pick up the normal stuff like bread, milk, water, chips, cookies. You know the stuff the everybodies eat. I thought I left the alien thoughts at home. Three days now I have walked for 30 minutes and they are enjoying it. Me, I thought it would run them off. They would complain about the heat, sweat, hills or something. No, they keep going on the walk and making me think.

Anyway back to shopping so into the only store in Griffin, Georgia that cuts the meat in store I go. Pack of sausage, chops, steak, and bacon in the buggy at the checkout. Then, I notice a cantaloupe. I remember I bought one last week and ate the whole thing myself. It was really good. The aliens say "Yeah! That would be great for breakfast.". Wait a minute I got sausage for breakfast. Aliens words "Let the everybodies have that, we like melon.".

Finished at store one, with a melon and meat. Off the Wally World, music playing and just driving along. Wait a minute there is a fruit stand. Is that watermelon? I haven't had any this season. Wonder if they are good. Too late I am already past it, may be next week. Aliens say "If you take a right, go over the tracks take another right, then at the stop sign take a final right, you will be back at the fruit stand. You know watermelon would be good.". Yeah, I took those rights and got a watermelon and fresh peaches. Now, I have cantaloupe, watermelon and peaches.

In to Wally World and through the masses I go. At checkout I have bread, milk, bottled water, strawberries, bananas, and spinach. Wait a minute, strawberries, bananas and spinach were not on the list. Aliens smile and say "We like them.". I say "The everybodies wanted cookies and chips. They are not going to be happy.". Aliens "They will be healthier. If you cook it they will eat it."

Get home put up the groceries with alien thoughts of going to buy that Vitamix. What the heck, the everybodies are not paying for it. I love smoothies and I have investigated the product. The other items I have purchased will not do the job. I have tried. So off to Cook's Warehouse I go.

I now own a Vitamix and the everybody I am married to does not like it. He would have preferred I spent the money on him a new gun. Me and the alien thoughts enjoyed our strawberry banana smoothies. Mr. Everybody had ice cream.

Great Smoothie recipe: 1 cup frozen mixed fruit (Wawona brand from Costco is really good, but WalMart has some as well) a really ripe banana, a "glob" of Greek yogurt and enough fat free milk to make the Ninja work (Vitamix, now that you have it!). If you want to, add a packet of Splenda. Whirl it around and eat it like ice cream. I never thought I had room in my diet for smoothies, I now have one almost every night to satisfy my sweet "teeth" (plural because every one is a sweet tooth!) sure hits the spot!
