Today was such a GLORIOUS day! I had my very dearest friend, Nancy, over to celebrate her birthday. We sat on the patio, even though it's pretty hot here [86 degrees] in Northern Wisconsin today; we have a shade cloth over our pergola and it was quite comfortable.
I served turkey sandwiches: our homemade whole wheat bread with mayo, turkey, cabot 50% light cheese, tomato, bread/butter pickles and salad greens. We split the sandwich.
Then we had my favorite black bean soup--each having about 1/2-2/3 cup w/ a tad of cabot reduced fat cheese melted and about 1 TBS of crushed tortilla chips on top.
Then for dessert we had fresh picked strawberries with banana and grapes. Mmmmmm, so, so SCRUMPTIOUS! The mom of the little girl that I'm tutoring brought me a whole crate of strawberries yesterday and they are SOOOO SWEET! $1.50 a pound and she picked $18 worth for me. Such a treat!
Then we went to the consignment shop and they were having 'bag day'. Fill a bag for $5. OH, MY WORD, did we have FUN! And found some really nice things for $5! And boy do we know how to stuff a bag!
Then back to my house for iced coffee. it could have EASILY been an I LOVE LUCY episode. Sammy was watching me try and get the whipped cream out of the can--it was defective, and no matter what I did, it would NOT come out. So my friend Nancy suggested getting something to try and get it started. I took a skewer and poked it inside, when it SUDDENLY exploded IN MY FACE and there was WHIPPED CREAM allmy face, squirting up in the air, going everywhere! This was a FULL CAN of whipped cream. We were squirting it into EVERYTHING, trying NOT to waste it! WE LAUGHED 'til we cried!!!!! Sammy was giggling his precious little heart out!!!! Wish we had it on camera! Anyway, so I topped our whipped cream with caramel and chocolate syrup and off we went back to the patio for our treat and prayer time.
It was an ABSOLUTE perfect afternoon!
Hopefully, I'll head for my 3 mile walk after supper.
Love you all! Susan
