Today is an Exciting Day!

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

I had my 1 month check with my surgeon.I'm 5 weeks post op. I've lost 21 pounds and he says I am doing well. As of today, I have no more restrictions. I can lift laundry baskets and not worry about weight (hmm I might not tell DS and DH - just kidding) , I can strength train and core train. He also said I can start eating whatever I can eat - no more soft food restrictions. That being said I should still only be eating a half cup at a time and protein first. He also reminded me that I might not be able to eat some foods now but that later I might find I can eat them.

I am going to my first hospital support group meetings as a post op tonight and will be signed up for the next monthly post-op group meeting with a dietician (I am really curious how to fit any veggies in while eating protein first). I have not been able to eat salads since way before my surgery because of the stomach issues the surgery corrected so I am looking forward to those (eventually - I am not rushing anything).

After a rough weekend (terrible exhaustion hit me if I tried to stand), I feel fantastic. The doctor said that I should be at 80 - 90 % of my old energy levels and that the problems I had this weekend might be dehydration. I have been drinking my water but the problem started when I was out and about and it is awfully hot here. Going to keep a water bottle glued to my person.

I feel so excited and empowered - almost as if I am a butterfly emerging from a coccon.

It's so hot and so easy to be dehydrated.

I'm only one week out, so it's nice to see someone who is a little ahead of me saying it gets better. I am not looking forward to starting the vitamins and calciums this week, but I will do my best.

Glad you are doing so well! Keep up the good work!
