Inspired

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

So the past couple of weeks I haven't been in the gym as much as I would have liked. I have had some medical issues to deal with and all the high school graduations I have been attending have wiped me out.

One thing I have continued to do during this hectic time is to continue with my personal trainer 2 days a week. I think that has kept me on the weight loss journey, just not as fast as I had wanted.

Well after working out last night with the trainer, I felt so inspired!! He is so encouraging and works the right sets of muscle that don't make me feel as if I am about to die.

As I crawled in bed from exhaustion I started watching Extreme Weight Loss. The young lady featured last night weighed 355 pounds. She was shown how to cook a meal and exercise (which she whined about). She was given the first goal of losing 90 pds in 90 days, I thought how in the world can a woman almost 400 pounds do that. Well to my amazement she did it (if I didn't go to work for 90 days, and worked out 4 to 5 hours/day, I'm sure I could accomplish that as well). she eventually had the support of her husband to quit her job because her health really needed to be her ONLY priority at that time.

I couldn't stay awake to watch the entire episode but I must say after all of her whining, she pushed herself and never gave up.

I woke up this morning with a fresh look at dedication and perseverance. I am determined to get at least 1 hour of cardio in a day, as well as alternating strength training. I wanted to be much smaller than I am by now, but that will not stop me.

I have to remember "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Be blessed.

I watched that episode and she surpassed her orignal goal. It is so true that in the real world we can't devote our entire day to fitness. BUt we can eat right, track our food, and commit at least one hour to exercise. We may never lose 90 pounds in 90 days (and who would want to with all the loose skin that would cause) but we can still lose 90 pounds.

That's what so many people who watch shows like this and biggest loser have to realize ... that's all these people do all day is focus on losing with HELP from trainers, dieticians and doctors. In real life we have "life" that intrudes into our journey. As you say you must continue to press through and keep your focus. Rather it takes longer to reach your goals - you reach them and feel encouraged that you kept at it.
