BOUGHT A LETTUCE CUTTER !

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Well last week i bought a salad spinner but i just do enough in it for 2 days ! It does better if after you spin it and get out what you want you take the rest out and put in the bottom a paper towel and put the remaining salad in and put a paper towel on top ! It done good but where i cut it turned alittle brown so i bought the plastic cutter for lettuce for 3 dollars and see how that does ! emoticonDH and i eat a small salad at lunch and the bagged salad is so expensive and i lose alot of it so i got the head of lettuce and it last all week ! emoticonI don't put my other stuff in it till i get ready to eat it but i put salad topping and dried peas and tomato in my salad ! Gonna get a head of cabbage for after i get weighted which is saturday and cook it with turkey sausage ! If you cut 1 lb into 8 pieces you have 180 calories a piece so i plan to eat that for 2 or 3 days i love it ! I really love kraut but the sodium really makes me short of breath i can eat about 2 tablespoons full and get by ! Today i think i am going to the dollar store and get me some kind of little animals for our bank out back ! Maybe go to the craft store ! Does anyone know of a good site that would have easy rag doll patterns for free ? HAVE A GREAT DAY ! emoticon emoticon

I love my salad spinner. I love my salads too. I just tear up my lettuce, so I don't need the lettuce cutter. Joann's is great for having good deals on things. I get their fliers in the mail. If they have good coupons I will also get Sunday's paper.

I like spinach too. And it is much better for you than iceberg.

Friend gave me this tip for salads. Use a plastic container with a tight fitting lid. Place lettuce in first then add other ingredients you want except for dressing and onions. Put lid on then turn container upside down in frig. Since I love salads but hate making them, I make all my salads at one time. Salads will keep for a week this it way. If you tear the lettuce instead of cutting, it is less likely to turn brown. Something I learned in 4-H many many years ago.

I love the spinner, too. Washing and spinning can put a little crispiness back into lettuce that's gone a little limp.
The cabbage and sausage is delicious. Sometimes I add diced potato and caraway seed.

2 good craft stores to check out are Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics. Between the 2 they usually have what you're looking for.

Those are wonderful ideas. I buy washed spinach and add the other stuff. I found it last longer than the lettuce about 2 wks.
Have a great day

I have had my plastic cutter for years. We also have a spinner. Yes, the dish towel and paper towels are needed. It is well worth it.
