Fort Cascade 10K Volksmarch

Our last Columbia Gorge event was on the Washington side and started near Bonneville Dam. We walked along the river to Clark' Overlook which refers to Lewis and Clark having been camped in the area.



It was a real pretty area with wildflowers and mountains.



On the way back we had a nice view of Beacon Rock which is a State Park. You have to pay to park at the base so you can climb it.



The River used to have a bad set of rapids before they installed the Bonneville dam and flooded them. To get around the rapids there used to be a small section of railroad. This is all that remains of the portage railroad.

    Wow ,how interesting. How long where you in the area? I love the green. I did get to go to washington and did go for walks in the rain forest.. I want to go back. emoticon
