Hello and happy Wednesday. I just joined this site on Tuesday and am ready to begin my weight loss journey. Changing how I eat is difficult because I have a 16 year old son and I need to be aware of his needs as well. Eating healthier will be good for both of us, especially since he is an athlete. It helps that I love to cook and like to try new things. My son, not so much, so I will have to slowly make changes. One thing is switching to wheat bread instead of white, drinking skim milk instead of whole milk....which I will keep the whole milk around for him. It helps to know I have many friends who support me in wanting to lose this weight, and I know they will help me when I hit a low patch. So cheers to the start of my 80 pound weight loss.....

Thank-You for the support. I know I will feel alot better once I start shedding the pounds, and realize I am eating healthier, and that my son is making healthier choices at a younger age, and hopefully he will continue into adulthood with the better choices. emoticon

Just take it one step at the time, no rush... emoticon

Drinking the 8 glasses of water a day helps a lot... Adding some greens (fruits and veggies) here and there was my first step, and even though I'm not really good at eating healthy I feel a lot better than last year.

Welcome to SP!

You are off to a good start! Slowly make small changes in what you eat and the exercise you do. This will keep you and your son from being overwhelmed. You can do it!

Good luck on your journey! You can do this. I urge you to check out the message boards for support. It will be challenging to cook for a teenager while you learn new ways to eat for yourself. But the support will make a big difference!
