A Long Lost Friend

Just what road do people say is paved with good intentions?

I had several good intentions years ago that never came to fruition before I started on my journey to health. One was getting an exercise bike so I could exercise while watching TV. And I used it...for a while. Soon, I lost interest in it, and for years it gathered dust in my living room.

Oh, I used it occasionaly, during Christmas season...to hang decorations on. And I looked at it, thinking one day I would get on it again.

But not today.

And so I went on that well-worn path to my own private hell of obesity. While the bike gathered dust. I even thought of giving it up. After all, I had given up on myself long ago, resigning myself to obesity and out of control diabetes.

Then came the determination, finally, to lose weight and start a healthy lifestyle. Then came Spark People.

I started with some exercise videos, Leslie Sansone, then Richard Simmons.then Coach Nicole, graduating to Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels.

And still the exercise bike gathered dust.

But then, one day, I decided to try it again. It clicked with a rusty sound, but as I kept at it, it got smoother. And I found it was enjoyable. The exercise bug had bitten me a few months before, and now I used it when watching TV instead of sitting there in the easy chair, eating potato chips.

And I loved it.

I thought I heard it say to me, welcome back. I'm your long-lost friend. I'll take care of you better than the junk food you ran to for comfort.

I patted it with affection, and said "Let's go for another round, old friend."

This is the start of a beautiful friendship, as Bogie once said.

    ONE DAY AND ONE STEP AT A TIME WE WILL DO THIS WE ARE WORTH IT. I HAVE ROOM AND I PUT MY BIKE RIGHT BY THE TV NOW I PEDDAL AWAY AND DON'T RELIZE I AM NOW DOING AN HOUR AT A TIME WHILE I WATCH MY SHOWS.LOL
