Took Daughter to the Emergency Room Today

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Today I had to take my daughter Tanya to the ER as her face swelled up and she was having trouble with her throat getting scratchy so I took her in.... she is allergic to Nyquil! She took it last night and it made her puff up like a pufferfish! So she is on prednisone and has epipens in case it happens again .

When we called the Dr's office the staff said oh she can't see you till Thursday..........Well thanks a lot! I really hate her Dr's office staff-- the Dr is awesome but her staff stinks!

Wow. Doctor's office staff could definitely have done better on that one!

I hate prednisone. It makes me all itchy and I tear my hair out. My daughter has had it with no problems though. Hope your daughter is feeling better soon.

Glad your daughter is feeling better. Just curious - is the reaction to an ingredient in the Nyquil? My daughter developed an aspirin allergy at a very young age (when St. Joseph's aspirin is what was given) and I was amazed what products had aspirin in them. When she got chicken pox she could not use calamine lotion and for an upset stomach could not have pepto because they both had aspirin in them. Very scary.

Wow that is scary! Glad she is ok.

I had a staff person at my doctor's office be extremely rude and unprofessional to me. I called and spoke directly with the doctor and made a complaint and he apologized, waved his fee for my last visit and told me she would not be dealing with me again. She had also written something nasty in my file and he told me that would be removed as well. If he had not been so attentive to the whole situation I would have not gone back.

Oh my goodness. I understand completely. My son (1 year old at the time) had a severe allergic reaction to string beans. The ER physician never heard of that type of allergy. Does it seem like every generation develops more allergies? So scary. I'm glad everything worked out. emoticon emoticon

Sorry to hear this. Smart of you to take action and bring her to the ER. I'm on predisone right now also for an alergic rash and have an epipen for bee stings and my new crab allergie. Never had these problems when I was younger.
