WooHoo thanks Spark friends and others. I have A fitness tracker!!!

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

I HAVE MY TRACKER it took me a long time to get it but now I have it and I have decided to look at all of the exercises and videos and hand write them. Then I can deal with what I want for each day.
I have been using the Nutrition tracker since it changed and I am hoping I am correct in saying this will work roughly the same way.
I am not computer savvy as I said before, I know very little about computers but when I ask the community for help they give me the very basic steps to get there. I TRULY appreciate hearing "look slowly down the left side of the page and CLICK on My tracker" or "Hold your mouse over the word tracker and “Find my Fitness" "Look along the bottom and find where you can go back to the old tracker” that is my language.

That makes sense to me I call it computer Kindergarten.
Many 5 years old children can tell me exactly what I need to do but they cannot understand my questions there is a void They have all the skills with their fingers but I am unable to communicate just where I want to get to. They know where to go without thinking about it. HOW great is that!

Only the persons as computer illiterate as I will understand what I am trying to say here and it goes both ways. Trying to ask the experts at the computer store is the very same way. They cannot understand what I want to ask because I do not know the lingo. I have a number of Spark friends who can bail me out because they know I am a very smart lady who had not even thought of using a computer on my own till I decided to look for Spark. That was after I had read the book.
I feel sure most people found and then looked for the book. Not I!

Tonight I am a happy camper I have been at this almost all day I type with 2 fingers and I watch the keyboard I cannot remember where my fingers should go. I write what I need to and then copy it in to word and have it spellchecked for me. It does A great job of capitalizing my letter “I” since I usually put in a lower case “I“. I get there. It just takes a great deal of time to post.
I know you all know I am long winded if you read my blogs, so there is a lot to type that is not helpful and I sometimes go back to my roots and use a lot of words spelled the English way so spellchecking can get tedious. I often hit the “caps lock “half way through and I used to be able to "CHANGE CASE" but the lap top is windows 7 and I was in XP with Microsoft Works so there have been many changes for my inadaptable brain to get a handle on.
Anyway, I think some of you who do not know me well have told me to go to stores for help where I have to pay money we have paid out more than the computers purchase price already so that is futile.
If I take my computer to friends I feel I am imposing and our sons live miles away and 2 out of three in different time zones. So when I reach out to my Spark friends these are the people I know will help me out. Now I have discovered that I am very slowly learning small steps to become a kindergarten computer student. Woo Hoo I will learn with the help of my friends. I did that all day today and as I said I am a happy camper till the next computer problem arises.
If you have any cooking or sewing problems I will share my expertise when I have the correct answer.
Right now I am very happy with my many tutors, you all know who you are and so do I. emoticon
HUGS Pat in Maine.

Hi Pat, I'm glad to hear you got your tracker's up and running. Do you have a printer so you can print out everything instead of hand writing them? I fixed my laptop yesterday after trial and error. It has been running so slow and acting weird and I did everthing I could think of and finally clicked on Internet Explorer and scrolled down to Internet Options and deleted my cookies and now it is running like a top. I do have a guy who repairs computers and he would have been my last option. My laptop was having a mind of it's own a couple years ago so I started asking around for someone to fix it and was introduced to him. He looked like a bum off the street but I was assured he was the best. Turns out he is a Veteran and was a sharpshooter in the Army. One of his missions was sitting for three days looking through his scope pointing his rifle at a cave that they thought Bin Laudin was in. It was a false
alarm. He did most of the computer programming for the Army. He went through my laptop and finally ended up scraping the driver and started all over again. Put in free AVG virus protection and some other programs and charged me $150 so I was a happy camper.

I do minor alterations for residents here and charge them $5. I also crochet and love to cook so I keep myself busy.

    Have a great day.

Pat, your blogs are always delightful. I have found we all need help with something, and Sparkpeople is a wonderful place to go for that help.

I think us "seniors" do A-OK for all this computer stuff~~LOL
Even when we spill coffee on the keyboard and find out that when the actual keyboard keys do not work~~there is a ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD~~who would know that till you need it eh???? emoticon

If you think back to when you turned on your first computer, you will see that you have learned more about computers than you realize. :)
