Summer start over

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

It has been 12 days since my last run and even longer since I was last at the pool. I have been laid low by a cold and a cough and feeling pretty yuk. I'm still not 100% but I'm desperate to get my running shoes on again. After work tomorrow I'm going to try a slow 5K or so.
A friend at work has signed up for a HM in Sept and a full marathon next May and is full of enthusiasm for her training. All we talk about lately is running, it's great! It's really making me wonder if I could actually do a HM myself. I'm just not sure my feet are up to it.
I'm trying to get my eating back on track after gaining 5 pounds over the last month or so, I'm determined to move my ticker in the right direction from here! Some of my trousers are starting to feel a little too snug and I have a dress to fit into for daughters graduation next month! I'm sure the weather is to blame, it's been cool (even cold) and wet for most of June so summer salads have not been so appealing.
I hope my next update will have some progress to report!

Did you decide to do the half? I have always wanted to do one...

And in a way you have reported progress. You made the decision to do a slow 5k today. That's a start. As for whether you can do an HM, I've read and truly believe that whatever the mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve. Go for it.

Well I sure understand the lag in energy when not feeling well. I was constantly battling one thing or another all spring and it really sucked the life out of me. Hope you get to feeling better! And for sure, do the HM! I do indeed believe you can do it, just train a bit slower and you will be amazed how it makes you feel. It is not as challenging as the marathon, but requires training, so it is a big accomplishment.

BTW, LOVE the do-over part. I keep trying to up my mileage weekly and when I have a high week it is followed by a week of blah, so could use some consistency for me too. Here's to a new do-over for me as well!

July is my start over too. I've been gone the month of June and have been able to maintain but have not made much progress. We are not giving up! emoticon

Those pesky lbs go on so easy, you know what to do. I think the weather has a lot to answer for. Looks a bit more like summer this week hope you manage your run.
