Food thoughts

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

My fiancé and I bought our first house in March and this whole "making homemade meals" is proving to be just as difficult as I thought it would be. I have this mindset that meals should be this extravagant display with multiple sides and extra delicious foods. I didn't expect to only have few recipes that we both actually like that don't take forever. I get home at 5:30 and my fiancé gets home at 5:50 and I like to have dinner started by the time he gets home because we are both hungry. I feel like we get burned out on the same meals over and over but when I try new things they never turn out good.
Last night I was so excited to make chicken wrapped with a piece of bacon and fat free cheddar. It just didn't taste too great. My main problem is spices, I think. I don't know how to combine spices or how to even spice/flavor my food right.
How frustrating!!
On a more positive note: I love how I can plan meals but just end up eating cereal or something super simple. Not only does it save time, but it saves my planned meal ingredients for another day with saves money at the grocery store. yay!

My husband and I only like a small number of foods in common too, and it's hard not to get sick of them. Sometimes we just both eat our own different meals, or we'll both have chicken but different sides.

Having time to plan meals can be hard. I try to plan for the week on the weekends and anything i can prepare ahead of time I do. Try Turkey Burgers 1 pound add a packet of lipton Savory Garlic and herb soup mix pepper 1Tablespoon on mayo and 1spoonful of fresh parsley or dried parsley flakes mix make patties it will be sticky emoticon I cock mine on a grill pan but a regular frying pan will do cook 7-8 min on each side serve with wheat bun ,sliced tomatoes lettuce I use spinach and low fat swiss cheese with a side dish of your choice. emoticon enjoy.
