To golf or bike...that was the question

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

We are very lucky to have many outdoor options open to us and we try to involve the kids in as many of these options as possible so tonight when we put the question to our 9 year or bike? He replied with a resounding golf. Our 11 year old daughter was babysitting so she didn't have a say this time. We packed up our clubs and headed to our home golf course...3 minutes up the mountain.
I was kinda sad about golfing instead of biking since our weekend was filled with thunder and lightening and a constant downpour of rain so our bikes didn't see the light of day and I was really feeling the need to get out there and peddle up the trail but a deal is a deal and we did ask what he wanted to do so to the course we went.

Thankfully my dh feels the same as I do about renting golf carts to ride our sorry behinds around to each hole...don't like to use them or more likely to use them when we do golf tournaments for fun but we really prefer to carry our bags and walk the course (read...getting in a workout while still having fun). The course was a bit soggy in places tonight and I didn't exactly dress warmly enough but in the end we had a lot of fun and I did get in a workout since our course is a mountain course with lots of uphill grinds.

This is my son on the 1st hole.

Love the way you have made exercise part of your daily life and especially part of the life of your kids who are sure to grow up with healthy habits! I aspire to being the same great role model for my son one day soon :)
