After yesterday's wreck, I was somewhat worried that I would avoid the mtb for awhile. The only thing to do, if possible, was to get back at it as soon as possible. That was today.
The temp was in the mid 80's and the ribs were sore. I stopped by the bike shop, got my courage up, grabbed the bike, and went riding. Sort of.
I had to walk just about every uphill. Trying to climb was just too much for the ribs. I was cool with this and planned it well in advance. The first place to walk was the scene of yesterday's biff.
The site of yesterday's biff.
If you look at the pic, you'll see that the trail doesn't drop straight into the bridge. It used to, but a tree kept getting bigger and the trail migrated. Yesterday, I hit the the lower left corner of the bridge. I didn't make it. I made it to the middle of the bridge and fell to the left. Also, in the picture, you will notice that to the left is a bunch of rocks. These are what I landed on with my ribs and my helmet. Ribs still are sore, but the head's okay. Thank God for helmets.
Anyhow, I got out today. I walked a bunch, but not as much as I feared. It was fun and I can't wait to do it again. Man, I love ibuprofen.
