I just realized today that I have lost 30% of my weight loss goal that I set in 2010. Most of that I didn't do anything except breastfeed. And really, I HAD lost more than that but he started weaning and I was still eating the same number of calories without adding more calorie burning so some of it came back.
I started my '5k Your Way' yesterday. I took a rather short walk down two blocks, first. That one was just 7 1/2 minutes total. Later in the day Simon and I walked the full 15 minutes (well, he rode in a stroller), which turned out to be just under one mile. When we got home my legs were BURNING!!!! Like I can't even describe he burn I felt. Usually that burn means I over did it and the next day will bring lots of pain and an inability to do much of anything (oh the joys of fibromyalgia), but I woke up this morning and got out of bed without any pain. None. Not even the perpetual pain I've been waking up with every day of my life for the last 20 or so years (mmmm, maybe 15, I forget how old I am).
Which is why I am DEFINITELY going to take a day in between to let my legs rest. I know the program calls for cross-training days, but I think I'm going to use those as strength training days instead. My legs need time to rest or I'm going to find myself couched for an entire week while they heal. As long as I keep doing this they'll be able to handle it better and better, it's just letting them get used to it at a rate that won't couch me. Tomorrow we go for our 1-mile walk. I've already mapped the route on MapMyRun so I know where to go to get that one mile, that way all I have to do is pull it up in the morning to see where I'm walking and head on out. Provided it stops raining.
Speaking of.....where's Summer?!?
