Why I Run (In Picture Form)

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Monday, June 25, 2012

Blog has been pretty heavy these last few days. Figured we all could use some light fare today. I mean, it is Monday and an inordinate number of my buddies are just exhausted today and have brain fuzz (including myself). I don't know if there's a solar flare that's messing with everyone today or what, but the general consensus is that we are in need of some motivation.

So...enjoy, friends! Some awesome pics...with color commentary from yours truly, as usual.

I would add...are you going to take a rest day? Or are you going to be a stubborn ass?

Thus, proving we are a) insane and b) sadomasochists.

I'm just going to say...I love this sentiment. But if you want to really "sell" running, maybe don't use a photo of a guy who looks like he's about to puke. Just my opinion. I'm no ad exec.

This is absolutely 100% true for me. Thus, proving that I am most definitely in my own little world. And I'm OK with that.

In all seriousness now...this is the most important lesson I am learning.

Thank you for sharing. I ran for the first time today and my knees aren't killing me. It was only for a couple of minutes, but it was a start. Your blog has been a big inspiration for me during this time.

You just run... This makes me feel better bc I don't think of myself as a runner. I'm not good; I have to stop and walk a bit from time to time; treadmill is easier-can go farther w/o stopping. The road is definately a challenge. Thanks- fun blog:)

I love how you commented each picture, especially the one quoted by John Bingham - I agree, they should use more lighter, positive picture than the one with that person looks going to give up, hehe.

Running helps me control stress after a bad day at work, it helps me organize my thoughts to deal with my personal relationship with others. I run because I can not catch-up to myself. It is something I can do on my own and my own pace. It becomes easy with time! Try it.

Babysteps... aspiring to run a lot is still scary to me, so I just aspire to run a little faster and farther on the treadmill in air-conditioned comfort. I love my VibramFiveFingers, and I'll eventually run more outside just to show them off.

I freely admit that I'm among those who don't get it. I'm trying to learn to run a little with my walks but cannot comprehend that I will ever enjoy it. For now, I just have to settle for enjoying the benefits it brings while detesting the process...kinda like childbirth, if you ask me :)

I love this blog! Running is great! It gives a great unexplainable top of the world high.
I miss it so much. Did quite a bit of it in my time; unfortunately for me I had an injury and my knees gave in. Now I bike but it's not the same as running.

Hahaha I laughed out loud on the comment about not using a photo of a guy who looks like he's about to puke! So true! And the sentiment itself was true!

We may not have a "save" button but there is a "share with others" and one of the options is to email, and I email people's blogs to myself all the time! Don't know if that saves it the way you wanted to save? Or another thing I do sometimes is to copy both the blog URL and the blog itself and paste it into my daily SP journal so I can re-read it whenever...

I especially like the final picture, because it not only shows a trail going into the distance, it shows or speaks to me a journey, and I am definitely on a journey to a better me and a better lifestyle.
