I'm having an affair with my walking shoes. We plan clandestine meetings, whether short or long, sometimes twice a day...Ah, it's been going on for nearly a week now. Perhaps I should let my husband know -- he may want to join us. :)
Seriously, I'd forgotten how wonderful it is to walk. Just walk. No timing how quickly I can jog a mile, no intervals, no worries. Just one foot in front of the other.
Hills push the limits of my derriere. Flat areas tempt me to pick up the pace. I get lost on various side streets, tangling my way through them and back to the main roads. I never turn back.
My daughter started her summer school class today. It's 75 minutes long on the north side of town. While I could certainly bring my coffee and book or run errands, I've dressed for walking instead. I have 75 minutes and dozens of new roads to explore. My love affair will continue in this manner for the next few weeks.
(Thank you, ANNIEONLI, for inspiring this fantastic use of time! Your determination to walk around the fields while your kids went to team practices has motivated me to do the same!)
