My partner and I talked, for the third week in a row, about running on Sunday. Even though I didn't get home from meeting with my old-time friends until 1 a.m., I woke up Sunday morning and sent a text to her about going at 8:30. In the midst of homework, she asked if we could go later, so I focused on cleaning the house, but getting antsy I asked her about 9:30. Well that didn't work either, as she had to go to church, and then practice some zumba songs for a special event. So she proposed running AFTER that, around 1 p.m.
yeah, it was HOT yesterday already at 9:15, so there was no way I was going to wait around and go at 1 in the blazing afternoon sun (think we hit 90+ yesterday). So, I got dressed, and proceeded on my own. My plan was to do 3, but I ended up doing 4. It wasn't pretty, by a long shot. Amazing how the body "forgets" after a month break, but after the first mile I got through it OK enough. I did however manage to get a huge blister on my heel. Ow. That hasn't happened before, but is certainly what I get for slacking so bad.
Glad I got that "reintroduction" run out of the way. I'll try for 6 next Sunday, then the race on the 4th will be a piece of cake. I did have have to overcome a mental obstacle yesterday: The route I chose along the river happened to be the same path from the end of the half marathon where I CHOKED hardcore. And I think the race next week takes the SAME path (we're not very creative here apparently. lol) so it was good to get that out of the way as well, to see that a particular area where you struggled before does NOT have to be hard every time.
For whatever reason I COULD NOT sleep last night, so I feel like the walking dead today (and was a hot mess in the 5:30 a.m. class. Oy) Hopefully tonight is better cuz I have 5 zumba classes to teach Tues-Thurs and I certainly cannot afford to feel like THIS any of those days!!!
