PDCA - Plan, do, check, act.

A BLC leader posted a blog, updating her plan at the start of this round. It reminded me of a hospital process we used at one facility where I worked.



Plan, Do, Check, Act, I and relate that to lots of things, weight loss included.

I posted most of this on our challenge message board but will edit for this blog:

Reviewing my goals:

I will attend my ST class, Abs class, and the new step class every Monday and Wednesday for two hours when I am in town. I will try to fit in some personal ST when I am on the road.

*I have not missed a class when I've been home, heading there tonight, but have not done so well on ST on the road, just the our TNT. It is so hard to fit that in my day. BUT, I am home for at least 3 and a half weeks and am really going to make it happen *

I will add cardio four of the other five days of the week.

*Got this one, doing lots of walking, foot still hurts so not trying to run*

I will replace one meal a day with a homemade protein shake when I am home.

*Well, that didn't happen - several reasons, hopefully not excuses. I was diagnosed with ulcerative esophagitis, and a gastric ulcer. I have been trying to eat smaller amounts and not get filled up and these shakes were very filling. Of course, I don't have to drink it in one sittting so will revisit this after my induction period, more on that later.*

I will eat oatmeal 3-5 days a week.
*This one is easy, had a bowl for my before bed snack last night and more this morning. Half portions. Every Hampton had oatmeal, all the Fast food restaurants have oatmeal and I have tried most of them. Hmmh, perhaps an idea for another blog.....*

I will eat 5 freggies a day, or more.
* most days - easy in the summer. We have a great farmer's market but avoiding most fruits so will work on this.*

I will eat red meat less than 4 times per month.
*A fairly easy one for me, I don't really eat much red meat. The only protein at dinner the other night was steak so I had a small portion, I did have a wonderful meat loaf on the road and perhaps one burger so within my 4 per month*

I will drink 8 glasses of water a day.
*Yep*

Less specific, I will track when I can, until after the middle of June, I'll be on the road more than home, so will do my best.
* I really lost my appetite before the wedding, so eating less then. We got so exhausted on the way home that I have been eating more. Why is it that when you are tired, your body asks for more food, it really doesn't help*

And finally, on May 14th, I will lose 5 pounds (I am having a colonoscopy, LOL) and try not to gain it back on May 15th.
*Silly goal, didn't happen, never does*

I should have added less salt, that is so hard, we have eaten out so much in the last 2 weeks, that I feel like a salt lick. Why do restaurants put so much salt on and in food? I hope I can get rid of it by Wednesday, but my fingers are like little sausages! LOL

    Love the Plan, Do, Check, Act. You are right- it can apply to so much in our lives. With ST on the road, could you put an exercise band in your bag, or have a body weight workout written out to do? Just a thought. I agree with salt and restaurant food! Even when you think you make good choices, the salt gets you! You do GREAT for the amount of traveling you do!!!
