The hiking and camping trip to the PA Grand Canyon was great, the weather was perfect days in the low 70's with very little humidity and the nights down in the 50's. We started out with 30 people saying that they were coming on the trip, but by Friday we were down to 17 out of that 14 showed up. Which was nice, sometimes having a smaller group is better. The first day of Hiking all 14 were to hike the 1st part of the 30 mile west rim of the canyon trail, 16 miles, we finished in 6 1/2 hours which was great. The second day 4 decided early in the am that they were too sore from the prior day hike that they were not going to go. Then on the the ride to the trail end, where we were to leave the cars, a deer crashed in to the side of one of the cars. That meant 3 more dropped out, had to get the car fixed. When we finally make it to the parking lot discovered that 3 others had blisters on their feet and couldn't make the trip, then 2 more decided that they were not up to the hike, Which left 2 of us to complete the day. We finished the hike in 6 hours, boy were we both glad to see the car at the end. We stopped at the Perkins in Williamsport PA for a much awaited dinner, then the 4 hour drive home. What a long day.
