Day 26 of 60 day exercise challenge & 6 miles done!

I had a flight to Toronto at 6pm tonight. I knew I would need to get my exercise in before that or I would have a rough time of it. I knew the hotel has a gym (yay!) but I needed to do a long run today.

My stomach felt off today, I was getting stressed and worried about time and I was seriously dreading the 6 miles that were scheduled for today.

I know I have run several half- marathons and even a full marathon. But that was over a year or so. And frankly some major pounds ago.

Running in the 260's is a humbling experience. I have to check my ego at the door every time I take that first step. I have to realize my body is learning how to run all over again. More frustrating then the extra pounds that came back is the lack of cardio endurance I have now.

It is getting better and I am feeling more positive then a couple of days ago. But going out at 2pm with tons of people in various modes of exercise on the George Washington Parkway (it's an awesome 20 mile trail that hugs the Potomac River and provides sweeping views of DC and planes flying overhead while landing/taking off at Reagan International Airport) was intimating to say the least.

And boy was it hot! I was so hot by the first mile! I know I also became dehydrated midway through and really struggled with the ending miles.

But crazy enough - with all my struggling and walking breaks- I maintained a good consistent pace throughout! It might have been the boost from the GU but I had a little extra energy at the end to finish strong! I have been averaging 16 minute miles and today the first 3 miles were 16 minute miles and the second 3 miles back to the car I averaged 17 minute miles.

So all in all I am proud that I went out there and got my exercise in.

I did not sabotage myself and I stuck to my training schedule. I know that I might not be completely running my miles but I don't care. I don't have to be perfect I just have to get out there and listen to my body and walk when I need to and run when I want to.



I was so exhausted after my run but I wanted Adam to take my picture. I was trying to figure out how to show that I finished 6 miles and was trying to think how it would look in reverse and was just so tired - and Adam caught me in my slow thinking moment. Nothing sums up my total exhaustion as this snapshot! I drank 3 things of water afterwards and on my plane ride. I'm in my hotel right now still re-hydrating!

    That is so impressive. I have to give you kudos for getting out there despite all the other stuff you had going on and getting that done.

    I know that running dread all too well, but good on you for making it happen. Made the the mistake of running around noon yesterday and if I can help it won't be doing that again. At least not during the summer. Keep up the emoticon work.
