A little overtime, a little crafting

Sunday, June 24, 2012

First off, THANK YOU to everyone who has been so complimentary on my mom's front porch (she will be here tomorrow!) AND to everyone who has been so sweet and supportive of the baggage I dumped the other day. I feel much better ... some because the initial pain of the events has faded somewhat but mostly because the load is lighter to bear when there are more shoulders to carry it. Nothing is solved but things look brighter!

Secondly, here's what I've been working on since my blog yesterday. My gazebo chandelier turned out better than I could have hoped. It is a hula hoop spray painted black that is wrapped with twinkle lights ... of course, I've never seen an idea I didn't think I could improve on so I gave mine a little "swag" as well by draping some of the lights. I love it! Here's a few pictures of it!

Here's with just the first string of lights on it:

And with both:

When that project was completed, my husband reminded me that we have forgotten his grandma's birthday. He is blessed to have the sweetest woman there is as his grandma. I love that woman! I looked around on the internet for a gift for her but couldn't find just the right thing. So I sat down and sewed her up an apron last night and a couple sets of matching potholders today. They are all done and ready to be popped in the mail tomorrow.

In the spare time I had today (Bahahahahaha) I got called in to work. It was only 5 hours but wow, Summer is so busy ...

I better close for now ... I'm headed over to Mom's to hang the "Happy Birthday" banner from that newly painted hand rail ... I can't wait for her to see it! I'm so EXCITED!

That apron and potholders are so sweet! Have to ask what you stuffed the potholders with. I'm desperately in need of some - and some craft time. (Yea, I know, I'll have to get off the bike to sew....) Need to start finding a little more "balance" in life though. Something you seem to be very good at!

Make sure you tell us what your mom thinks of the porch!

Oh sure, just sit down and whip up a little something or three for Grandma. Nothing on the internet would come close! Love the drape on the chandelier by the way!
