June 23 - Work

Sunday, June 24, 2012

One of my customers told me she shaved her dog, which is bad because it prevents the dog from being able to keep cool. When I said that, she told me her vet recommended it and she'd been a vet for eight years, graduated from A&M. I started to say that didn't mean she was right, but I could tell she was getting defensive. So I mentioned that my son worked with dogs and showed her his card.

Apparently, she either called the store later or talked to one of the supervisors before she left because I got called into "the office" and was warned not to step over the line or to promote my son's "grooming" business...which it isn't.

No one else has ever resented my giving out my son's cards but this lady was just upset because I questioned her vet's judgment. I could tell as she left my lane that she was a bit put out and I expected trouble...and I got it.

I am SO ready to get out of there and the way Target kisses the customer's behind all the time.

Gotta love those companies that ignore the employee in favor of the customer's opinion. I remembered when I was managing the hotel, one guy complained the bed was so uncomfortable his legs fell asleep. When head office recommend that I refund his entire 10 day stay (in a room with a brand new bed in it), I nearly dropped. Since I refused to pay it, the franchise refunded his stay, and the fight was between my hotel and the franchise head office. Eventually, they relented but only after a medical doctor wrote a letter stating that the customer should see a specialist immediately due to extreme poor circulation because no bed could cause that kind of issues - even one in horrible repair pulled from a refuse dump.

Anyways, stay strong. I'll be praying that a new and better job comes your way real fast.

You are right about the dog. Wow, some people always wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Sorry to say you can't do anything about that but let it roll off your shoulders. Her attitude need not contaminate you.
