Sorry...no blog last week as I was out of town with my little pooch. That naughty boy; the last two times I took him to agility trials (expensive overnights in IL), he not only performed poorly, but was flat-out a brat. So last weekend, I wasn't expecting much from him. So I was pleasantly surprised when he took three firsts and a third place (all with legs towards his title). He actually earned his jumpers title and is now in masters (for jumpers only)! Talk about unexpected!!
I took Monday off from work to go spend with my dad for a late Father's Day visit. We bummed around my hometown, looking at the neighbor's elk, checking out the local lakes and hitting the cheese factory. We did plan on going fishing, but the weather was just not as good as we had hoped (a little -lot- too windy).
This weekend was a homebound weekend...not that that's a bad thing. I took all my baby seedlings and got them in my garden. My peppers seemed to have a slower start for some reason, so they'll stay inside for a bit longer or they will surely be eaten by some little rodent animal. But because the garden was planted, it was an automatic (extra) grooming week for the mutts. They all got a good brushing...really, just so that I could harvest their hair for the garden. Oops, we're back on dogs...sorry, this was supposed to be about my garden.
So anyway, I planted way less this year than I did last year. Cut the tomatoes, beans and peas in half and skipped the corn, cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts. I did plant asparagus and cantaloupe this year and decided that all my kitchen spices should go in the garden for the summer. My kitchen looks funny without them.
As for Spark...I have my good days and bad days like everyone else. I still have no problem getting my fitness in. I even had a run cancelled because of the heat this past Wednesday and recovered by doing stuff on my own. My eating and sleeping habits are a whole different animal. I continue to struggle on and I do make slow but steady improvements. Cheese is still my weakness. Did I tell you I came home with 5 lbs of cheese on Monday...really.
Oh well, that's my story for this week. Hope you all are doin' fine!
