Two hungry grey kitties

Friday, June 22, 2012

This week I had a little visitor every morning at my front door. She's the tiny charcoal grey cat that has a tiny face and a big belly. She always looks pregnant, and maybe she is. She's very ferral and I wouldn't even want to pet her , but she looks so sad that she makes me cry when i see her. She's very timid and runs quickly even when I bring her little paper bowl of real tuna to the door for her. I even get out of my Hoveround a few feet from the door so as not to scare her. She slowly comes back to the dish and I have to disappear or she won't eat. But now she looks in the glass storm door when she's done if she wants more food, and doesn't run quite as far away as in the beginning. I got up late on my birthday Tuesday, and I didn't feed her that day. I felt guilty!
Before her time there was another very pretty grey cat with white paws that came around and I just loved her. I thought she was a Mama too, but who knows? She disappeared as the dark grey cat came on the scene. Today I made myself get up by 8am. because I have to go out at 9:30, and also didn't want to miss my tuna customer!! When I went to the door the first time, there wasn't any cat there, so I came into my kitchen and made my coffee and started my toast. Then I went back to the door to check, and there were the TWO OF THEM LOOKING IN AND WAITING FOR BREAKFAST! I was so shocked to see them both, but not really surprised, because I always sort of "knew" there was a connection between the two grey kitties. Today they did their quick turn around as if they were scared, but quickly came back to the door. You can't keep a hungry girl down for long!! So I had to divvy up the tuna can between both of them today, and put the dishes in separate spots. The grey and white cat went right to it, but the timid dark grey hesitated. Then she started to eat, but when I moved, she moved away. So I disappeared again so she would eat, and then I saw the bigger light grey come over to the dish, but she let the smaller cat eat. I think they must be sisters, mother and daughter, or at the least BFFs. Anyway, I have two new friends, and a girl can never have too many friends. emoticon emoticon emoticon
Today when my PEAPOD food delivery comes, there will be 6 cans of Friskies in the order, and that's because I thought I was feeding just one cat. So now they will really have to share.
I would love to name them after the sisters from the movie"Grey Gardens." That's who they remind me of. If any one knows their names please leave a message. Thanks.

God bless you for looking out for them. I believe they were both named Edith. Big Edie and little Edie as I recall. But they were Jackie Kennedy's cousins so you could name one Jackie.

I think that you now have two new pets. emoticon emoticon emoticon

15 1/2 years ago I started feeding a three month old little grey and white cat every day after work. I did not realize that if you feed them they will claim you forever. When I came home one day, he was all beat up, with scratches all over his face. That's when I decided to take him in. We both have adjusted to each other over the years. I love him like a baby.

I have a newer little girl cat, 3 1/2 years old that I found when she was weeks old and had to feed her with a dropper.

Thank you so much for being kind to these precious animals. (Your new pets).

Blessings,
Brenda

That is a precious story. I wish you knew if they are strays or if they have an owner.
It is sweet of you to feed them.

You are a woman with a huge heart! The world (and each stray cat) needs more like you. My daughter is a stray cat feeder, too. Don't let it get too expensive. They will also love cat food.
